Wear Dark Berry Lipstick!

With autumn/winter now upon us, it's time to dig out those dark and berry lipstick shades and completely own them! Now, before you freak out and think it's too much effort or too 'gothicy', there are a few little rules to keep in mind so you can rock that bold lip with no fear.

Preparation
Bold colours tend to show up and cling to any dry skin on your lips. To avoid this happening, prep your lips with a lip scrub to leave the skin silky smooth and make lipstick application that much easier.

The Right Finish
First off - don't be afraid of wearing certain colours - be bold! One thing you should be aware of is the finish. Matte formulas tend to look better if you have fairer skin, as this creates a more dramatic contrast to your skin. If you have a darker skin tone, you may be better with slight sheen to make your lips stand out.

Liner
When wearing dark, bold lipsticks, always line your lips with liner. This will not only give your lips a sharp, clean edge but will also stop the colour bleeding out.

Brush It In
Rather than apply straight from the bullet, use a brush for a precise application. Build up the colour in the centre of your lips to make them appear more full.

Simple
Let your lips do the talking and keep the rest of your makeup simple.

Will you bold this winter and wear a dark lip?

  3. I love wearing bold lips in Autumn and Winter. It's just a classic thing to do. I really need to pick up some new bolds though. Do you have any recommendations?
