London Fashion Week Survival Guide

With fashion month fast approaching, I thought it was high time I posted about attending London Fashion Week (LFW) and my tips and tricks for surviving the busy and fast paced week! I have been lucky enough to have attended LFW for the past 3 years, so I have picked up a few helpful things along the way, so read one to find out what they are!

London-Fashion-Week-Survival-Guide

Water
This is by far the most important thing you need to survive LFW! You will be spending a lot of time walking, waiting and talking so you need to stay hydrated otherwise you will just make yourself ill and wont be fully able to concentrate on all things fashion. Always make sure you have a bottle of water in your bag and be prepared to buy more throughout the day.

Snacks
Again, this is super important - you need food when your going to be (quite literally) running around the city! You are more than likely going to be rushing around too much to actually get a proper meal until the end of the day, so plenty of snacks that wont either go off or melt etc are essential. I always have some sort of crisps and usually something from Graze in my LFW bag!

Footwear
However you decide to get around London, you will be doing a lot of walking and being on your feet all day, you need comfy shoes. If you are going to be wearing new shoes, make sure you wear them in for at least a week before LFW to make sure they are comfortable and don't rub. Anything thing would be to wear flat shoes in-between shows and switch to heel when you get there - believe me, you wont be the only one doing it!

Layers
You never quite know what the weather is going to do in both February or September (we are in England after all!) so wearing layers is always a good idea - along with always carrying and umbrella. This way you can either keep warm or cool down depending on what the weather does. I would say this is more essential if you are going to be doing a lot of walking rather than taking cabs around.

Charger/memory cards
You are going to be taking a lot of photos and using your phone all day, so a portable charger as well as multiple memory cards for your camera is essential! This way you can be assured that you will have enough storage to take as many photos are you need of each show/presentation and don't have to worry about missing anything. Also, the worst thing would be for your phone battery to die in the middle of the day, especially if you are using it for maps so a portable charge is just what you need and they are so small and light, it will easily fir in your bag.

Bag
Make sure you have a bag that fits everything in easily with room to spare - sometimes you get goody bags or samples depending on the show and what type of ticket you have been allocated. Also, only carry what you absolutely need as you will have it all day so don't add in unnecessary weight! This also leads me onto, make sure the bag you choose it comfy to carry - be that on your shoulder, cross body, a rucksack or in the crook of your arm, trust me, if it's not you'll end up with some painful bruises!

Map
Not all London Fashion Week events are at Brewer Street car park or even near by, so having a map of some kind is an absolute must - even if you know the city!

Tickets
Whatever you do, make sure you don't forget your tickets to every show and/or presentation you are attending! Without these, there is a very slim chance you will be admitted, even if you are on the list so check and double check you have them before you leave for the day!

Have you ever attended London Fashion Week or any of the other fashion weeks?
Love Laura x

  9. Footwear and bag! I've only been to LC:M myself but I basically style my outfit based on the shoes and bag I'll be wearing because they are the most important elements! You need a big roomy bags for the camera, phone charger, power bank, snacks, water and the goodies you'll receive and the shoes need no explanation. Great list!
