Gone Dark With Under Armour

Just take a moment and think about all the professional athletes there are around the world and the amount of training they do. Then think about what time they get up in the morning, the weather they face, the amount of hours they train and the lack of 'social life' they have, all for the dedication to their sport.

I was challenged by Under Armour to 'Go Dark' on social media for 3 whole days meaning no posting, no selfies, no check-ins - nothing! I was to use this extra time to train and put 'sweat before social' with no distractions and show you what it truly takes to take sports seriously and dedicate so much time to the dark moments - be they very early mornings/late nights or not posting on social media. To Rule Yourself. Read on to see what I got up to and how I found being dark on social media!

Going dark on social media with under armour

To really get in the frame mind of a professional athlete, I decided to do the early mornings to fit in a work out, so I started my day with an at home workout consisting of moves such as planks, squats, sit ups and donkey kicks to name just a few. Normally I would have still been in bed at this time or scrolling through social media, but I defiantly think this is time well spent!

I also took the time to go out for a run each day and with living so near to a National Park, I am quite literally in the best possible location to work out - who says you need a gym?! Luckily the weather was on my side and although it was freezing cold, there was still a hint of blue sky and sun at points. I defiantly used the hilly terrain to my advantage, as it is perfect for training and building endurance. This was all alongside my usual yard jobs and of course exercising my horse, which is such a good form of exercise and you don't realise your doing it and all the muscles your working!

It was hard at times to stay off social media, especially first thing in the morning as this is when I usually go on it, at the same time as checking and replying to emails. However, I am so glad I did it and I never really realised the amount of time social media took up and what that time could be better spent on, such as working out and staying healthy.

Do you think could Go Dark on social media for 3 days? You may be surprised and say #IWILL and Rule Yourself!

  1. Good on you girl! 3 days without social media, doesn't sound all that bad but I can imagine when it comes down to actually staying away, it can be HARD! It really does take up an awful lot of time!

  2. I have, in fact, gone dark on social media a number of times, but, sadly, usually not to follow exercise regimens as you have - rather it's generally either because I've gotten too depressed for it or because something urgent needing my attention in real life came up. Your #IWILL resolve is admirable, and you look fabulous on your 'about' page. Thanks for the inspiration.
