Minimise Your Pores

Pores. Those pesky little things can sometimes seem impossible to minimise and while the size of them is largely genetic, there are a few things you can do to help them appear smaller.

Minimise-Your-Pores-Tips

Wash Off Sweat
During a workout, sweat can get lodged in pores and also stop your skin from breathing properly. Make sure you wash your face and cleanse if you can - makeup wipes are good for this.

Masks and Pore Strips
Marks are amazing for pulling all that dirt out of your pores, meaning no black/white heads to worry about. They also pull out excess grease which can make pores become blocked and appear larger

Remove Makeup, Cleanse and Exfoliate
By keeping pores clean and free of dead skin cells, it can help make them smaller. Invest in a good cleanser and exfoliator to really help your skin and give it a healthy glow. The same goes for sleeping in makeup - a huge n-no if you want to reduce the size of your pores as they need to breath and be kept clean

SPF
Sun damage to your skin means that cell production is slower and pores become larger and more visible. Counteract this by using a good sun cream or a product containing SPF to help protect your skin.

Steaming
Working in a similar way to masks, steaming can help to draw out impurities, oil and just general dirt from your pores. Simply pore boiling hot water into a bowl and place you face over it with a towel on your head to trap the steam in for about 10mins.

Highlighters
Only apply highlighters and/or shimmery makeup to the places where pores are already small, otherwise you are just encouraging and drawing unwanted attention to the large pores. Use matte makeup in there place to help to disguise.

Fake It
If you really can't make your pores shrink in size, a good primer is all you need! They can make your pores virtually disappear and help your foundation look smoother and last longer.

How do you reduce the look of your pores or are you bless with small ones anyway? Jealous if you are!

  1. I always, always obsess over my pores! I've spent countless hours staring at them, willing them away, and I really need to take on board your first point - sometimes I commit the worst sin of going to the gym with make up on! And it just clogs my pores even more.

Really good post! Easy to read and really helpful! :)

    1. Know exactly how you feel and no amount of wishing makes them disappear! I would defiantly recommend not wearing any make up at the gym and washing your face after to try and help

  2. I had no idea highlighters could make them appear even more obvious. That's mad! I'm so self conscious about my pores. I really want to try doing a pore mask on my nose again. Superdrug have a tea tree one that's amazing!

  6. I actually had no idea that your pore size was down to genetics! All really good tips/advice given here definitley agree with the highlighter tip too!! Benefit actually do a pore filler cream, its super soft on application and does really work! Luckily I don't suffer with large pores but I've use it on people who do and I'd have to reccommend it!
