Blogmas Day 20 - Cheese Twist Recipe

One thing I always remember having around at Christmas time - and eating all of - were cheese twists. There's just something about them that is irresistible, especially when they have just come out of the oven and are all warm on a cold day! They are also so quick to make and you can literally fill them with anything alongside the cheese!

You will need :

Pre made puff pastry
100g mozzarella cheese
100g cheddar cheese
1 egg (to glaze)
Baking tray

  • Pre-heat the oven to 180C

  • Roll out the puff pastry onto a lightly floured surface or onto a piece of baking paper and cut into 4 equal pieces

  • On two of the squares, cover with a mixture of the two cheeses getting right up the edges and cover with the other squares of pastry

  • Using a rolling pin, press the two pieces of pastry together until relatively thin

  • With a knife, cut into thin strips. The thinner the strips, the easier they are to twist and keep their shape while cooking. Twist each strip around 5 times then place onto the baking tray

  • Break and egg into a mug and beat until combined. Using a brush, cover the top of each twist in the egg mixture

  • Cook for 15-20 mins or until all the cheese has melted and the pastry is golden brown

Super easy and quick to make and remember, you can add pretty much anything to this recipe. Change up the cheese, add bacon or even sprinkle with herbs - the choice is completely yours!
