As the regular readers of my blog will know, I love lingerie and am consently buying it even if I don't really need it. However, I have never tried to make my own. Mainly because I thought it would be really hard and I have no sewing skills at all - safe to say I didn't do textiles in high school, stuck to the more computer based things! By chance I found Lesley Converse on YouTube and her tutorial to make a bralette which seemed pretty easy to follow, especially for a first attempt at anything like this.
To make this you will need -
- fabric with some stretch (I used old t-shirts)
- 12mm elastic
- 20mm elastic
- thread the same colour as the elastic
- needle
- pins
- chalk
- pattern (I used this one here)
- ruler
- pencil
Simply follow the tutorial as it explains everything better than I ever could! Would like to point out that although the tutorial uses a sewing machine, I did all of it by hand. It did take longer but still works and honestly, I feel even more proud of the final result! This was also so easy to follow that I have even made one in black too! (Did use a thinner elastic as I couldn't find any at the time that was black and 20mm)
If you do this tutorial, let me know how you do! Also, how prefect are bralettes for summer?! So easy to wear and way more comfortable when the weathers warm.
