Lip products are hugely popular at the moment, from the classic lipstick to liquid lipsticks and liners and I don't know about you, but I've acquired quite the collection now! However, did you know you can use them for other areas than just your lips? Not only are they multi-purpose but they can give your makeup a whole new look.
Eyeliner
Lip liners make excellent eyeliners, especially if you need a colour that you don't have or it's just a one off look you're creating. As they are a lot more creamy, lip liners are excellent for blending and smudging without too much effort or a load of product being applied. Both MAC and Maybelline lip liners are amazing for eyeliner, as they just apply so well and are long lasting - exactly what you need.
Highlight
Lip balm makes an amazing highlighter, especially if you pick one that is clear with a subtle shimmer. It is also so easy to apply as you can either swipe from the bullet or your finger if it's in a tub, such as Vaseline. One of my favourite lip balms to use as a highlighter is Maybelline Baby Lips Balm in Peach Kiss as it is a natural shade (perfect for pale skin) but with some shimmer to catch the light!
Blusher
Lipstick, when used in small amounts and the correct shade makes an excellent blusher. A bonus is the staying power, as it lasts a lot longer than any powder blush formulas I've tried! When doing this, I always apply straight from the bullet and either pat into the area with my ring finger or use a foundation brush to make it look as natural as possible. MAC's Pink Plaid is the perfect shade for my skin, as it is a light pink and a matte formula which is what I prefer.
Eyeshadow
Fancy trying out the wet/slick look but not sure what to use? A lip gloss gives the shiny and 'slickness' need for that look and buy using the applicator, you can apply it precisely where you want it - just be sure to only use a non-sticky one! You could also use a liquid lipstick if you have one that you particularly like.
Have you ever used a lip product to do another makeup look?

I've heard that lipstick makes a good blush but I'm too scared I'll make a mess of things haha! I may try it out as eyeliner though, sounds like it could be a really cute look!

You should go for it - it works out so much better than you might think, especially if you choose the right shade

I've never considered using lip products for highlight! That's such a good idea! xx
ReplyDeleteGreat ideas! I have used a lip liner as an eyeliner in the past, but the eyeshadow tip is a great idea :)
ReplyDeleteWhen I was younger in my goth stage of life, I used to wear red lip liner as eye liner (not a look I would go for these days!)
ReplyDeleteI'm don't wear make-up these days, but when I have in the past, I swore by the Lush lipsticks as they would work for me as everything.
I've never thought about using a lipstick in any other way than on your lips! I have seen people use lip liners as eye liners before though! Great ideas xx

Some really good ideas here, never heard of the lip balm for highlight!
ReplyDeleteI'd never thought of using lip balm as highlighter! I've been struggling to find a decent drugstore highlighter, so I'll definitely be trying that! I've heard about the lipstick as blush thing, but the only time I tried cream blush I made a huge mess, and now I'm too scared haha

Yeah I still haven't found a highlighter I love yet and with the stick ones being popular, a lip balm is basically the same thing!
DeleteI am so scared to use lip products for anything else but after this post maybe I'll try!
ReplyDeleteI'll definitely be trying some of these tips. Thank you for sharing :) x
