Book Review | The Beijing Conspiracy By Shamini Flint

A LONG-LOST DAUGHTER. AN EXPLOSIVE SECRET. A LETHAL CONSPIRACY.
Ex-Delta Force soldier Jack Ford is trying to put the past behind him. But when he receives a letter from someone he hasn't spoken to in thirty years, claiming he has a daughter, he can't resist investigating for himself.

Soon he's on a plane to China, a country he hasn't returned to since witnessing the atrocities of the Tiananmen Square massacre. But on his search he stumbles upon a document which both the Chinese and American governments are desperately chasing. Now Jack is trapped in an impossible dilemma: save his daughter or prevent a new world war where thousands will lose their lives.

In 'The Beijing Conspiracy' we follow Jack Ford, an ex CIA spy and ex Delta Force soldier who receives an unexpected letter informing him he has a grown daughter who needs his help. These leads him back to China, somewhere he hasn't been since his youth where he meet Xia, the supposed mother of his daughter, who was a student activist at the time. He tries to rope in his friend and also ex-spy, Peter and their meeting doesn't got to plan (at all!) and he ends up with a crucial document, that he now has to keep out of the hand of the Chinese and American alike

A fast paced thriller that follows the hidden plot between members of both the USA and Chinese governments - and an unexpected, Jack Ford who is an ex CIA spy. I personally loved how it changed from different characters perspectives to full explain the plot line and so you, the reader, get the full details and you can genuinely imagine this happening in the real world - especially with everyone knowing of the the famous Tank Man image. So well-plotted and gives a good insight into how governments may work alongside the authors inclusion of POTUS - I think we can all imagine who that character is based on!

I through ally enjoyed The Beijing Conspiracy and can wait to read more of Shamini Flint's books!
